The funds raised for the American Heart Association truly make a difference in the lives of people all around the world. Groundbreaking research funded by the AHA has led to such advances as drugs to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, CPR, drug covered stents, and the artificial heart valve.
However, there is still much work to be done! In 2017-2018 $161 million was invested to fund 813 new research awards. Yet, 1,828 other applications totaling $351 million went unfunded. This means these scientific projects were shelved and the knowledge from them deferred. This is knowledge that could save a friend, a mother, a child. This is knowledge that could save you!
